Letter, 21 Mar. 1845, Bremen, [Germany], to John L[yde] Wilson, Charleston, S.C., discussing arrangements for the settlement of German immigrants, noting that he had sent "three big ships full of respectable German settlers" to South Carolina, lamenting financial disappointments and seizure of his Pickens estate by Bank of Charleston, but confirming Wilson's right to a quarter of the property, and forwarding a copy of lease, 3 Apr. 1835, of Table Rock Mountain [Pickens County, S.C.], by Delius, of Hamburg, [S.C.], to W[illia]m Sutherland of Pickens District, at a rent of ten cents per year. Also includes undated partial letter, [1851?] to Geo[rge] W. Brown, Charleston, S.C., seeking his assistance after death of J.L. Wilson, who had handled Delius' S.C. property concerns, describing proposal to construct a road to increase value of Delius' land in Pickens, specifications for arrangements with sqatters, and settlement of German immigrants.
